What's New: It was a great winter for new ideas to emerge from those quiet ponderings while the snowflakes swirled. These warm seasons when I'm not enjoying the lovely weather I'll be transferring those designs from the paper into porcelain. Call me and Come and see! In the kiln: new earring and necklace designs featuring natural textures based on local wildlife, both terrestrial and marine. "Slice of Life" pins: small geometric containers filled with organic forms were introduced late last fall. This combination of approaches has got so many possibilities for exploration. More coming from this series without a doubt. Small, thematic sculpture: Rather than a huge statement, I prefer a subtle whisper. These hollow pieces can reside, aesthetically interesting, on a shelf, issuing a quiet call to be picked up, turned, touched and studied.
Happy SUMMER! It was a long time in coming, so good for rumination and inspiration. And what a marvelous summer it is. Shows for 2008 are on the horizon. See the current listing below. Good news: The studio will be open for limited hours very late this summer. My father is carving a beautiful new sign; once it's ready and in place, studio hours will be posted here and around town. If you find yourself over this way and would like to stop in, please e-mail us or call. If we are available, we'd be happy to greet you. We enjoy seeing old friends and it's a pleasure to make new ones. We do have some "bittersweet" news: our funky little local co-op gallery on Harpswell Neck, "A Gallery" will not be opening on Rte 123 this year. The old very well-loved building will be taken down, and the site will become a new home for a young man we've known since he could walk- Brian Moody. We are sad to see this location end as a gallery space for so many, but it's wonderful to think that the property will stay with its original family and carry on as a home. Congratulations, Brian! In the meantime, please look for "A Gallery" at its summer 2008 location at the Gaudet's on Ash Point Rd. New funkiness abounds!
